Banas Dairy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Cooperative Exports Limited to strengthen export opportunities for dairy and agricultural products, marking another step in India's efforts to expand the global footprint of cooperative-based businesses.
The agreement was signed during a programme attended by cooperative sector leaders and is expected to help farmers gain better access to international markets through NCEL’s export platform. The partnership aims to leverage the strengths of both organizations to increase exports, improve value realization and create additional income opportunities for farmers associated with Banas Dairy. According to reports, the collaboration will focus on facilitating exports of dairy products and other agricultural commodities produced by cooperative members. NCEL, established under the Ministry of Cooperation, has been tasked with promoting exports from India’s cooperative sector by providing market access, export facilitation and international trade support.
Banas Dairy is one of India’s largest dairy cooperatives and plays a significant role in milk procurement, processing and value-added dairy manufacturing. Industry observers believe the new partnership could help the cooperative explore new international markets while strengthening export-oriented growth opportunities for its farmer members.
The MoU aligns with the Government of India’s broader strategy of increasing agricultural and dairy exports through cooperative institutions. Experts note that cooperative-led exports can help farmers capture greater value from their produce, diversify revenue streams and reduce dependence on domestic market fluctuations.
Analysts believe that growing global demand for Indian dairy products, combined with stronger export infrastructure and government support, could create significant opportunities for large dairy cooperatives. Partnerships such as the one between Banas Dairy and NCEL are expected to play an important role in expanding India's presence in international dairy markets while improving farmer incomes.
Industry stakeholders also view the agreement as part of a wider push to position Indian cooperatives as globally competitive enterprises capable of participating more actively in international trade and value-added product exports.
