Arokya Milk Price Rises by ₹4 Per Litre

Consumers in Tamil Nadu will pay more for Arokya milk following a recent price revision by the dairy brand. The price of one litre of Arokya milk has increased by ₹4 to ₹86.

The company has also revised the price of its curd. The price of one litre of Arokya curd has increased from ₹88 to ₹90, representing a ₹2 increase.

Following the latest revision, consumers purchasing Arokya's regular milk will now pay ₹86 per litre, while the revised one-litre curd price stands at ₹90. Customers have been advised to check the updated prices with local retailers, as retail prices may vary by location.

The latest increase comes amid continuing changes in Tamil Nadu's dairy market. The state has recently raised Aavin's milk procurement price from ₹38 to ₹41 per litre and subsequently to ₹44 per litre, with the government citing rising cattle-maintenance costs and demands from milk producers.

Aavin currently procures around 34 lakh litres of milk daily from 3.16 lakh milk producers associated with 8,800 milk cooperative societies, according to the state's earlier announcement. The procurement-price increase to ₹44 per litre was estimated to add ₹60 crore a month, or ₹720 crore annually, to the government's expenditure.

The private dairy segment has also been facing procurement-cost pressures. Earlier reports indicated that some private dairies in Tamil Nadu were offering farmers higher procurement rates than Aavin, while farmers cited increasing costs of cattle feed, medicines, labour and transportation.

The Arokya price revision therefore comes against a broader backdrop of changing procurement economics and rising operating costs across Tamil Nadu's dairy sector. The impact on consumers, farmers and private dairy companies will depend on future procurement prices, input costs and retail pricing decisions.
