Kaushiki Women Dairy Enterprise Crosses ₹145 Crore

Kaushiki Mahila Milk Producer Company Limited in Bihar has emerged as a significant women-led dairy enterprise, with its membership reaching 49,344 women and turnover rising to ₹145.01 crore in 2025-26.

Established in Saharsa in September 2017, the company began commercial operations in October 2018. Initially focused on Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura, its operations later expanded to Khagaria and Munger, bringing more rural women into the organised dairy value chain.

Membership Nearly Triples

Kaushiki’s membership has increased sharply from 16,656 women in 2019-20 to 49,344 by August 2026.

The company receives financial support from Bihar JEEVIKA and technical guidance from NDDB Dairy Services. Its model focuses on organised milk procurement, market access, timely payments and technical services for improving dairy productivity.

Daily Milk Collection Crosses 92,000 Kg

The company’s average daily milk collection increased from 11,436 kg in 2019-20 to 94,180 kg. As of August 2026, it was collecting an average of 92,218 kg of milk per day.

Kaushiki now operates across 53 blocks in five districts, supported by 17 Bulk Milk Coolers and 1,192 operational milk procurement points. Its share capital stood at around ₹479 lakh.

Women members have supplied a cumulative 13.96 crore kg of milk through the company.

Turnover Rises Nearly Ninefold

Kaushiki’s turnover increased from ₹16.54 crore in 2019-20 to ₹145.01 crore in 2025-26, representing an increase of nearly 8.8 times.

The company recorded another ₹74.81 crore in turnover during the first five months of the current financial year, through August 2026.

Payments to milk producers also increased substantially, rising from ₹14.38 crore in 2019-20 to ₹113.10 crore in 2025-26.

Services Beyond Milk Procurement

The company’s activities extend beyond milk collection. It provides members with services including artificial insemination, balanced cattle feed, mineral mixtures and green fodder to support animal productivity and dairy management.

By August 2026, Kaushiki had facilitated 1.97 lakh artificial inseminations. It had also supplied 7,375 metric tonnes of cattle feed, 129 metric tonnes of mineral mixture and 139 metric tonnes of green fodder.

The company’s stated mission is to regularly procure quality milk from its members at competitive prices while providing breed-improvement and technical services to increase milk production and member incomes.

Women-Led Dairy Model Expands in Bihar

Kaushiki’s growth demonstrates how collective milk procurement, technical support and organised market access can transform small-scale dairy activities into a structured rural enterprise.

The increase from 16,656 members in 2019-20 to 49,344 in August 2026 reflects the expansion of women’s participation in the organised dairy economy across Bihar’s Kosi region.

Rural Development and Information and Public Relations Minister Shravan Kumar described the company as an example of women’s empowerment and collective entrepreneurship.

With its expanding membership, procurement infrastructure and producer payments, Kaushiki Mahila Milk Producer Company represents a growing women-led model for strengthening dairy livelihoods and rural enterprise in Bihar.
