UP Dairy Sector Draws ₹695 Crore Investment Proposals

Uttar Pradesh's dairy sector has attracted investment proposals worth ₹695.18 crore from 22 companies, with the proposed projects expected to generate more than 2,500 jobs across the state.

The proposals were received during the recently concluded Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show under the Uttar Pradesh Dairy Development and Dairy Products Promotion Policy, 2022, according to the Dairy Development Department.

Ace International Leads Investment Proposals

Ace International Ltd has proposed the largest investment, committing ₹457 crore for projects across Hathras, Aligarh and Agra. The projects are expected to create around 1,500 employment opportunities.

Carebro Innovators Pvt Ltd has proposed an investment of ₹100 crore across Ayodhya, Lucknow, Meerut and Bareilly, with the company expecting to generate more than 250 jobs.

Other proposals include ₹50 crore from Anjum Dairy for projects in Moradabad, Amroha and Rampur; ₹27 crore from Gwin Whey Protein for Etah, Firozabad and Etawah; and ₹14.65 crore from Gauri Food and Beverages for Jhansi.

Dairy Processing and Value Addition in Focus

The investment proposals cover different parts of the dairy value chain and come as Uttar Pradesh seeks to increase milk processing and strengthen its dairy-processing ecosystem.

Companies including Parag, Amul, Namaste India, Paras Dairy, Gyan Dairy, New Era Dairy, Alpha Milk Foods and CP Milk participated in the trade show, where the Dairy Development Department presented investment opportunities and government schemes to potential investors.

Uttar Pradesh's official investment portal identifies dairy processing, cold-chain infrastructure, commercial dairy farms, micro-dairies, biogas and organic-fertiliser projects among the sector's investment opportunities. The state's Dairy Development and Milk Products Promotion Policy, 2022 also provides incentives for new and expanding dairy-processing units, including capital investment support and interest subvention.

Processing Capacity Remains a Key Opportunity

The state government has identified low milk-processing levels as an area with scope for investment. Uttar Pradesh's official dairy-sector profile states that the state's milk-processing level is around 10%, compared with an all-India average of 17%, while the 2022 policy targets raising processing levels to 25%.

With 22 companies proposing new investments, the latest announcements indicate continued interest in expanding dairy processing, value addition and related infrastructure across Uttar Pradesh.
