MP Milk Prices Rise ₹2–₹4/Litre Amid Cost Surge
Milk prices across several parts of Madhya Pradesh have increased by ₹2 to ₹4 per litre from April 1, 2026, marking the start of the new financial year, driven primarily by rising input costs and seasonal pressures. According to the Madhya Pradesh Milk Vendors Federation, the hike has been implemented in multiple cities including Indore, Ujjain, Dhar, Dewas, Bhopal, and Jabalpur, reflecting widespread pricing adjustments across the state.
In Indore, for instance, the price of loose milk has risen from ₹60 to ₹63 per litre, while prices in other cities have been revised based on local conditions. The increase is largely attributed to a shortage of green fodder during the summer season, along with a rise in animal feed costs, which have significantly impacted milk production economics.
Industry representatives noted that milk production capacity typically declines during summer, further tightening supply and necessitating price corrections. The price hike underscores ongoing cost pressures in the dairy sector, as rising input expenses continue to translate into higher retail milk prices for consumers.
