Leadership Issue at Kheda’s AMUL Dairy Resolved

By DairyNews7x7•Published on December 18, 2025

After weeks of organisational uncertainty, the leadership issue at Kheda’s AMUL Dairy has been officially resolved, bringing stability back to one of the region’s key cooperative nodes. The situation had drawn attention from both farmers and cooperative circles following internal disagreements over governance and operational direction. With the new leadership now in place, the cooperative’s board and management have moved to steady its strategic direction ahead of the crucial procurement and processing season.

The prolonged leadership uncertainty at Amul Dairy was resolved on Monday with the unanimous election of the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Limited, nearly three months after the general body elections, media reports say.

The development has brought much-needed clarity and relief to thousands of milk producers associated with the cooperative. Sabesinh Parmar of Virpur was elected Chairman, while Vijay Patel of Dakor was chosen Vice Chairman through consensus at a meeting of the Union’s board of directors.

Stakeholders within the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) — the umbrella body that markets Amul products — welcomed the resolution as a positive step toward reaffirming member confidence and ensuring uninterrupted services to farmers and consumers alike. Cooperative officials emphasised that the matter was addressed through established governance processes, affirming the strength of cooperative institutions in resolving internal challenges without disrupting milk procurement or product supply.

Farmers from Kheda district, a significant milk pool for the Amul network, expressed relief as the leadership transition is expected to maintain fair procurement practices and prompt payments — two critical issues for rural producers dependent on stable cooperative operations. Observers noted that such governance resolutions are vital to preserving the cooperative advantage that has underpinned Amul’s success over decades.

The swift resolution also sends a broader signal to the Indian dairy sector about the resilience of cooperative structures when facing internal discord. At a time when dairy markets are navigating price volatility, quality enforcement challenges and competition from private players, stable leadership within flagship cooperative dairies becomes even more important. With the leadership issue behind it, Kheda’s Amul Dairy can now focus fully on procurement targets, quality compliance and farmer engagement strategies going into 2026.

Going forward, cooperative members and analysts will likely watch how this leadership change interfaces with Amul’s larger strategic initiatives, including procurement expansion, product diversification and digital integration in farmer services. The episode reinforces the fact that governance strength is inseparable from operational performance — a lesson that resonates across dairy cooperatives nationwide.
