Goa-based Dudhsagar Dairy has announced an increase of ₹25 per kg fat in milk procurement prices, providing a significant boost to dairy farmers supplying milk to the cooperative. With the latest revision, the procurement price has risen from ₹805 per kg fat to ₹830 per kg fat.
The decision was approved by the dairy’s board in response to rising input costs, including cattle feed, fodder, labour and animal maintenance expenses faced by milk producers. According to the cooperative, the price hike is aimed at improving farmer incomes, encouraging higher milk production and strengthening the dairy sector in the region.
Dudhsagar Dairy officials stated that the increase reflects the cooperative’s commitment to ensuring better returns for member farmers while maintaining a sustainable milk procurement system. Industry observers noted that the move follows a broader trend among dairy cooperatives across India, which are revising procurement prices upward to support farmers amid increasing production costs and growing demand for milk and dairy products.
The price revision is expected to benefit thousands of dairy farmers associated with the cooperative and further strengthen milk procurement activities across Goa and neighbouring regions. (Indian Cooperative)
