Youth Drive Kerala Dairy & Meat Investments
Kerala’s Animal Husbandry Department is set to energize private enterprise in dairy and allied sectors with a focused series of investment meets for young entrepreneurs from February 4–7, 2026. The initiative kicks off with a two-day session in Thiruvananthapuram (Feb 4–5) followed by a second in Kannur (Feb 6–7), with about 100 aspiring founders expected to participate.
The events will bring together private dairy and meat sector players, agriculture specialists, officials from Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, the State Pollution Control Board, and senior animal husbandry officers to offer technical guidance and regulatory insights. This collaborative platform aims to modernize dairy and meat production, elevate meat and egg output, and enable youth-led self-employment opportunities.
A key feature of the meets is direct support to selected entrepreneurs, including assistance with government licences, statutory clearances, and approval processes, helping bridge gaps between innovative ideas and sustainable implementation. The department has emphasised openness to modern technologies and forward-looking concepts, addressing past challenges such as waste management concerns in dairy farm setups through coordinated institutional support.
This push aligns with broader national schemes like the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) — which supports dairy, meat processing and feed infrastructure projects with financial incentives up to 90% of project costs — underscoring a wider policy ecosystem where young agripreneurs can access both capital and know-how to scale businesses.
