UP Approves Dairy Expansion in Bundelkhand

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved a proposal to expand dairy processing capacity in the Bundelkhand region by setting up a new dairy plant and upgrading an existing facility to strengthen the dairy value chain and support farmers. The decision was cleared in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Yogi Adityanath.
Under the plan, a new dairy plant with a capacity of 20,000 litres per day will be established in Banda district, while the capacity of the existing dairy plant in Jhansi will be expanded from 10,000 litres per day to 30,000 litres per day. The Indian Dairy Machinery Company Ltd has been nominated as the executing agency to carry out the civil and mechanical works on a turnkey basis, and the entire expenditure will be borne by the state government.
Officials said the expansion aims to address the growing demand for dairy products in Uttar Pradesh, which is the largest milk-producing state in India, while helping farmers obtain better and market-based prices for milk. The initiative is also expected to reduce milk spoilage in the region, create direct and indirect employment opportunities, and contribute to the state’s broader goal of becoming a USD 1-trillion economy.
