The Sirsa Vita Milk Plant in Haryana is facing mounting protests from dairy farmers over pending payments of around ₹15 crore, with the Bharatiya Kisan Ekta (BKE) alleging that milk producers have not received dues for the past two months.
Farmers submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, claiming that while private dairy companies are offering better procurement prices, Vita has not revised its milk purchase rates.
BKE President Lakhwinder Singh Aulakh also questioned the plant's reported daily milk procurement of 75,000–80,000 litres, alleging that summer production in the district could not realistically exceed 45,000 litres.
He further alleged that 30,000–35,000 litres of adulterated or artificially prepared milk was being procured with the connivance of officials, alongside irregularities in quality testing, manipulation of procurement records and the replacement of experienced staff with temporary employees.
Responding to the allegations, Sirsa Vita Plant CEO Dinesh Mehta said the plant had already released two instalments, including one two days earlier, while four instalments remained pending. He confirmed that the plant owes farmers around ₹15 crore, attributing the delay to approximately ₹13 crore yet to be received under the Midday Meal Scheme, and indicated that payments would be cleared once the outstanding government funds are released.
