Progressive dairy body gives 50 buffaloes to flood-hit farmers
In a heartening act of solidarity, the Progressive Dairy Farmers Association has distributed 50 buffaloes to dairy farmers in flood-affected areas, aiming to help restore their livelihoods. The initiative was part of a broader relief effort to support rural communities struggling after severe flooding.
According to reports, these buffaloes will be handed over to farmers whose dairy assets — especially livestock — were lost or severely impacted by the floods. The Association said the move was not just a gesture, but a practical intervention to help dairy operations bounce back quickly.
By providing productive animals, rather than cash, the Association hopes to rebuild long-term income-generating capacity for these farmers. It’s a strategy rooted in sustainability — buffaloes are central to milk production in many parts of India, and each of these animals represents daily milk income potential.
This intervention also sends a powerful message: cooperative and farmer-led associations can play a critical role in disaster recovery — not just through short-term relief, but by rebuilding economically productive assets. Such efforts help stabilize milk supply and preserve rural dairy economies when they are most vulnerable.
