In a move aimed at supporting dairy farmers, the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has increased milk procurement prices by ₹1 per litre, effective May 1, 2026. With this revision, farmers will now receive ₹39.05 per litre compared to the earlier ₹38.05 per litre.
The decision comes amid rising production costs, including higher expenses on cattle feed, fodder, hay, veterinary medicines, and overall maintenance. The price hike is intended to strengthen farmer incomes and provide financial relief, with around 3 lakh dairy farmers across Odisha expected to benefit.
Announced on International Labour Day, the move is being seen as a significant step toward improving rural livelihoods and ensuring sustainable growth of the state’s dairy sector, while reinforcing OMFED’s commitment to farmer welfare.
