Nandini Demand Boosts Profits for Dairy Farmers

Rising demand for Nandini dairy products has significantly increased revenues for the Chikkaballapur District Milk Producers Cooperative Union (CHIMUL) in Karnataka, enabling the cooperative to share profits with milk-supplying farmers.
The union reported a profit of about ₹2 crore and announced an additional incentive payment of ₹1.50 per litre of milk to farmers, which will be provided until May. CHIMUL President Manjunath Reddy said the union currently pays ₹36.90 per litre of milk, and with the Karnataka government’s subsidy of ₹5 per litre, farmers are receiving a total of ₹41.90 per litre.
With the newly announced ₹1.50 per litre incentive, farmers’ earnings will increase further. The cooperative is considered one of the dairy unions in the state offering relatively higher milk procurement prices, and officials said the profit-sharing move aims to ensure that dairy producers directly benefit from the growing market demand for Nandini-branded milk and dairy products.
