The Madhya Pradesh government has announced that it will procure milk directly from farmers to ensure they receive a fair price, as part of a broader push to strengthen the state’s dairy sector and farmer incomes. The initiative, highlighted by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, focuses on securing remunerative returns for livestock farmers while expanding dairy production in the state.
The move aligns with the state’s larger strategy to boost milk output and position Madhya Pradesh as a leading dairy-producing region, with efforts underway in mission mode to scale production and strengthen the value chain.
Complementing this, schemes like the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana are promoting dairy entrepreneurship by providing business opportunities to unemployed youth, increasing milk production, and improving farmers’ economic resilience, especially during adverse conditions. (Kamdhenu)
The combined approach of assured procurement, farmer price support, and entrepreneurship-driven dairy expansion is expected to enhance rural incomes, drive self-reliance among farmers, and accelerate the growth of Madhya Pradesh’s dairy economy.
