Kerala Milk Output Up by 10 Lakh Litres, Minister Says
Kerala’s **total milk production has climbed by approximately 10 lakh litres per day, the state’s Animal Husbandry Minister announced during the ongoing State Ksheera Sangamam dairy expo, highlighting growth in the state’s dairy output as cooperative and farm activities expand. The surge was revealed alongside extensive display of dairy innovations and support services aimed at strengthening animal husbandry and milk supply chains across the state.
The Milk Production increase announcement came as part of Kerala Dairy Expo events, where officials are also conducting surveys to measure and verify the rise in domestic output and to identify ways to boost volumes further. The expo features more than 100 stalls showcasing dairy processing technology, quality services, financial tools, and educational exhibits on milk handling and cow health — underlining the state’s effort to tie production growth with better productivity and technical knowledge.
While Kerala has traditionally lagged behind the larger milk-producing states in scale, cooperative networks such as Milma have been actively working to strengthen milk procurement and support farmers through welfare schemes and incentives, with procurement in recent months showing expansion in several regional unions.
This reported rise in output reflects renewed momentum for the state’s dairy sector, driven by collaborative efforts between government departments, dairy federations and grassroots producers — aiming to reduce milk import dependency and improve rural livelihoods.
