IPL Diversifies into Dairy Feed, Sugar & Rural Warehousing
IPL Ltd is expanding beyond its traditional fertiliser and agri-inputs business into dairy cattle feed, sugar manufacturing, and rural warehousing logistics, CEO Parvinder Singh Gahlaut said in a recent interview. The diversification lays the groundwork for deeper engagement with rural economies and farmer value chains.
According to Gahlaut, the company is leveraging its agri distribution network and farmer relationships to enter nutritionally balanced dairy cattle feed, aiming to improve milk yields and animal health for dairy farmers. Unlike commodity feeds, IPL’s formulations are tailored for regional breed requirements and seasonal variations.
In the sugar segment, IPL is positioning itself to capitalise on ethanol blending mandates and stable offtake contracts, with plans for plant upgrades and supply chain optimisation. The move aligns with broader rural industrialisation goals and creates demand linkages for sugarcane farmers.
Gahlaut also emphasised the expansion of rural warehousing and logistics services, noting that storage infrastructure near production centres can help reduce post-harvest losses, improve price realisation for farmers, and integrate last-mile linkages for inputs and outputs. Looking ahead, IPL intends to build on these diversified verticals by strengthening farmer engagement, deploying digital solutions for quality and traceability, and forging strategic alliances to scale its rural value-chain footprint across key agri-commodity sectors.
