India’s cooperative movement has earned global recognition, with Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) and Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF-Amul) featuring prominently in the World Cooperative Monitor 2023 rankings released by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA). IFFCO secured the top global position among the world’s 300 leading cooperatives based on turnover-to-GDP-per-capita ratio, while Amul reaffirmed its place among the top-performing agri-food cooperatives worldwide.
This recognition underscores the strength and resilience of India’s cooperative model, which continues to empower millions of farmers through collective ownership, professional management, and scale.
