Technology, Automation, Packaging & Food Safety

By DairyNews7x7•Published on January 01, 2026

Technology is now the backbone of modern dairying. From digital milk testing and traceability systems to smart factories and real-time quality monitoring, technology adoption is improving efficiency while reducing losses.

Automation is addressing labour shortages and hygiene challenges, particularly in medium and large plants. Robotic handling, automated CIP, and intelligent filling lines are becoming standard rather than aspirational. These investments are critical for consistency, especially as dairies scale operations.

Packaging innovations—aseptic packs, portion-controlled formats, and sustainable materials—are extending shelf life and expanding market reach. IQF technology is opening new possibilities in frozen dairy ingredients, desserts, and export-oriented products.

Food safety and certification form the final, non-negotiable layer. Global markets demand compliance with Codex, FSSC, ISO, and residue norms, while domestic consumers are becoming increasingly quality-conscious. Robust testing infrastructure and integrity in compliance are essential—not just for exports, but for sustaining trust at home.

Together, technology, automation, packaging, and food safety define the credibility and competitiveness of India’s dairy sector in the years ahead.

The session "Importance of Automation, Packaging & IQF in Dairy for Efficiency and Quality" will focus on how automation, innovative packaging solutions, and Individual Quick Freezing (IQF) technologies enhance operationalefficiency, productquality, andsafety in thedairy sector. These advanced solutions reduce manual intervention, ensure product consistency, extend shelf life, and meet regulatory and consumer expectations for quality and sustainability.

This session will further empower dairy industry leaders, technologists, and policymakers with practical knowledge and best practices to leverage automation, packaging, and IQF technologies for sustainable growth and quality assurance.

Expected Outcomes of the Session:

  • -  Clear understanding of how automation reduces costs, enhances production efficiency, and assures food safety.
  • -  Insights into packaging innovations that protect quality while appealing to eco-conscious consumers.
  • -  Awareness of IQF technology’s role in preserving product integrity and improving supply chain flexibility.
  • -  Actionable strategies for dairy processors to implement automation and advanced freezing techniques to meet growing market demands with superior quality and efficiency.
