Subhashis Basu Named Chief Business Officer Dairy Britannia Bel Foods

By DairyNews7x7•Published on December 30, 2025

Britannia Industries has announced the appointment of Subhashis Basu as Chief Executive Officer of Britannia Bel Foods and Chief Business Officer – Dairy at Britannia, a move aimed at strengthening the company’s dairy and cheese portfolio amid intensifying competition and evolving consumer preferences .

In his expanded role, Subhashis Basu will lead Britannia’s dairy business while heading the Britannia Bel Foods joint venture, which focuses on cheese and value-added dairy products in partnership with Bel Group. The appointment underscores Britannia’s strategic intent to accelerate growth in dairy, deepen market penetration, and build scale in high-margin, value-added segments .

Basu brings over three decades of experience across FMCG and dairy, having held senior leadership roles at Lactalis India, Anik Milk Products, Mother Dairy, PepsiCo and Parle Products. He is widely recognised for driving business turnarounds, integrating large dairy operations and building strong consumer brands in highly competitive markets .

Industry observers view the appointment as a signal of Britannia’s sharper focus on dairy as a long-term growth engine, particularly in cheese, nutrition and premium dairy categories. With consumer demand shifting towards branded, trusted and value-added dairy products, Basu’s leadership is expected to play a critical role in shaping Britannia’s dairy strategy in the years ahead .
