MP to Leverage Dairy as Core of Industrial & Rural Growth

By DairyNews7x7•Published on January 01, 2026

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister **Mohan Yadav has unveiled an ambitious strategy to position the state’s dairy sector as a central driver of industrial expansion, rural employment and farmer income growth. At a high-level state-level steering committee meeting set up under an agreement between the MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), CM Yadav called for scaling up milk production, processing and marketing activities across the state.

Highlighting the vast employment and livelihood potential of the dairy value chain, CM Yadav urged officials to expand dairy activities district by district and rapidly grow the reach of the Sanchi brand — Madhya Pradesh’s flagship dairy cooperative brand — to strengthen rural economies. The strategy includes enhancing milk procurement systems, ensuring timely and remunerative payments to producers, and building capacity at the village level through training and skill development.

Under the state’s dairy roadmap, Madhya Pradesh aims to extend cooperative coverage to 26,000 villages, achieve a daily milk collection target of 52 lakh kg and expand processing capacity through both revived and new dairy plants by 2029–30. The state has already formed 1,241 new milk cooperative societies and reactivated 635 defunct ones, digitised value-chain processes in key unions and introduced mobile apps for real-time milk collection monitoring.

The state government is also promoting public-private partnerships with cooperatives and industry players to modernise infrastructure, introduce dairy technology training in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), and create local jobs — particularly for youth — in dairy plant operations and allied services. This integrated approach positions dairy not just as a farming activity but as an industrial and rural growth engine that can uplift livelihoods and catalyse broader economic development in Madhya Pradesh.
