Hyderabad Raid Busts ₹18.26 Lakh Fake Ghee Unit

In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Golconda Commissioner’s Task Force along with Masab Tank police arrested a dairy unit owner in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, for allegedly manufacturing and selling adulterated ghee. The accused, Mohammed Junaid Hussain (26), was operating a unit named Pride Dairy at Bhola Nagar on Road No. 12, where he reportedly produced spurious ghee by mixing palm oil, vanaspati and other low-quality substances with cow and buffalo cream and selling it as pure ghee to the public, hotels and event organisers.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the facility and seized adulterated dairy products and equipment worth ₹18.26 lakh. The seizure included 460 kg of adulterated ghee, 70 kg of mixed ghee, 2,090 kg of cow cream and 1,170 kg of buffalo cream, along with 28 tins of vanaspati, used oil packets and empty tins used in the adulteration process.

Authorities also confiscated machinery such as two boilers, a pushing machine, a packing machine, two weighing machines, four gas cylinders, 70 basins, 25 empty drums and packaging materials from the premises. Police have registered a case at Masab Tank Police Station under Sections 318(4), 274 and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and further investigation is underway. Officials said the adulterated products were marketed as genuine ghee, posing a serious risk to public health.
