Ayurvedic doctor booked for false claims on Amul milk
An FIR has been lodged in Gujarat against Dr. Hitesh Jani, a former principal of an Ayurvedic university, after a video he posted online alleging that Amul milk contained “22 types of chemicals” and DDT-like pesticides went viral. The complaint was filed by a quality assurance officer of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the parent body of Amul.
According to the report, Dr. Jani claimed that Amul milk was stored for seven days before being sold, and that even ISI and FSSAI-certified products were unsafe for consumption. He also alleged that Amul milk pouches were underfilled and accused the brand of misleading consumers. The complainant stated that these statements were baseless and intended to harm the reputation of India’s largest dairy cooperative.
The Ahmedabad cybercrime police have registered a case under sections related to promoting public mischief and spreading misinformation. Officials said such false claims not only mislead consumers but also damage public trust in India’s dairy cooperatives, which are globally recognized for their quality standards and food safety compliance.
