Andhra CM Alleges ‘Bathroom-Cleaner Chemical’ Ghee in Tirupati Laddus
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has sparked fresh controversy by alleging that during the tenure of the previous YSRCP government, the iconic Tirupati laddus — sacred prasadam offered at the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple — were prepared using “ghee made from chemicals used to clean bathrooms.” Addressing a public meeting in Kalugotla village, Kurnool district, Naidu claimed that this practice continued for about five years, and was an attempt to “undermine the prestige” of the temple by supplying adulterated ghee for laddu preparation.

Naidu said the irregular practices were deeply offensive to devotees and vowed legal action and corrective measures, including a one-man committee to implement recommendations based on investigative reports.
The YSRCP has strongly denied the accusations, citing statements from leaders and past laboratory findings that do not confirm the use of animal fat or intentional adulteration with such chemicals, leading to conflicting narratives. The controversy builds on earlier investigations into the Tirupati ghee supply and has fuelled broader debates over quality controls and political motives around one of Hinduism’s most revered .
