The Chhattisgarh Government has imposed a one-year statewide ban on the manufacture, processing, storage, transportation, distribution and sale of non-standard dairy analog products, including analog paneer, cream and butter, in a major move to strengthen consumer protection and food safety.
The order, issued by the Public Health and Family Welfare Department, came into effect immediately and aims to prevent products that imitate dairy items without being made from real milk from misleading consumers. Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said the decision is intended to curb the sale of imitation dairy products, reinforce transparency in the dairy market and safeguard consumer rights.
The ban is expected to encourage the production and sale of genuine dairy products while promoting stricter regulatory oversight, higher quality standards and greater confidence in Chhattisgarh's dairy sector. (The Times of India)
