A shocking discovery
As per the X post, the user Gajendra Yadav ordered a large carton of Amul protein buttermilk online. Upon receiving the delivery after 10 to 12 days, he found white insects crawling on the carton. Further inspection revealed these insects inside the buttermilk packets themselves. Yadav’s posts included photos and videos of the contaminated buttermilk, which sparked widespread outrage online.
🚨 Stop Buying products from @Amul_Coop website 🚨
Hey Amul you have sent us WORMS along with your high protien buttermilk.
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction after discovering worms in the buttermilk I purchased recently. This experience was incredibly….. pic.twitter.com/vmLC4rp89z— Gajender Yadav (@imYadav31) July 17, 2024
This is not the first time Amul has faced such complaints. A few months ago, a similar incident occurred with a family pack of Amul ice cream, which also went viral on social media. These repeated incidents have raised concerns about the quality control measures at Amul, a brand trusted by millions across India.
Foul smell and insect infestation
In his detailed post, Yadav described the unpleasant odour emanating from the buttermilk cartons, indicating a serious lapse in product safety. Following his complaint, Yadav received a call from the Amul Kanpur team, who apologised and assured him of a refund.
Public outrage
Yadav’s post has garnered significant attention, with numerous users expressing their anger and disappointment. One user commented on the risks of ordering online, pointing out that companies often send out old stock. Another user criticised the persistent quality issues with Amul products and the delivery delays.
The incident has prompted a broader discussion on social media about food safety and the responsibility of major brands to ensure the quality of their products. As consumer trust wavers, Amul will need to address these issues promptly to restore its reputation.
