Major dairy players in west Bengal have decided to increase their milk prices by Rs 2-3 per liter in this week. This will be the third hike in last 1 year.

Amul has a 60% market share in a 1.6 mill LPD of Kolkata market. It sells 9 lakh lpd of milk in Kolkata and suburbd. It attributes price increase to the escalation in manufacturing costs .
Kaira district union has recently increased raw milk price of cow and buffalo milk to Rs 39.1 and rs 46.2 respectively. This may also be a factor to increase the prices.
Other major dairy players like keventers agro etc are also weighing options for a price increase soon.
