Over 2000 cattle dead at Cow shelter in Bikaner

In a government cow shelter in Bikaner , more than 2000 cattle have died in last five months.Mayor Sushila Kanwar has complained that municipal commissioner was not paying attention to the crisis in the shelter at Sarah Nathaniya, situated at the outskirts of the city. Bikaner Municipal Corporation pays Rs 50 per animal per day to Sohanlalji Buladevji Ojha Goshala samiti which is governed from Chennai. The society got an interest free support from the BMC of Rs 5 crore to develop 148 acres of land into a cow shelter area. Half of the payment has already been done. The society in turn blamed BMC for not providing veterinary and medical staff required to manage the cow shelter.
