Punjab’s dairy cooperative brand Verka has launched a new generation of smart vending machines to modernize dairy retailing and improve consumer access to Milkfed products across the state. Named “Guddi,” the intelligent vending units have been introduced as companions to Verka’s existing “Veera” milk dispensing machines, marking another step in Punjab Milkfed’s technology-driven retail expansion strategy.
The Guddi machines are designed to dispense multiple dairy and value-added products including flavoured milk, lassi, ice cream, paneer and other Verka products through an automated and digitally enabled platform. The initiative aims to strengthen last-mile retail convenience while helping Verka increase direct consumer engagement in high-footfall urban locations. (tribuneindia.com)
Punjab Cooperation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated that the project reflects Milkfed Punjab’s focus on innovation, modernization and customer convenience in the dairy sector. Officials added that the vending machines will support hygienic dispensing, digital payments and real-time inventory management, improving operational efficiency while reducing dependency on traditional retail channels.
Milkfed Punjab, which markets products under the Verka brand, is one of India’s leading cooperative dairy federations and procures milk from thousands of dairy farmers across Punjab. The cooperative has been aggressively expanding its value-added dairy portfolio and retail presence to compete more strongly in the rapidly growing branded dairy market. Analysts believe smart vending systems could become an important future channel for fresh dairy retailing, especially in urban markets seeking faster, contactless and technology-enabled consumer experiences.
Industry experts say automated vending infrastructure may also help dairy cooperatives improve cold-chain management, reduce product wastage and collect real-time consumer demand data. With rising urban demand for convenience-driven dairy purchases, similar smart retail models are expected to expand across other Indian dairy brands and cooperative networks in the coming years.
