Ved Ram Nagar-From Milkman To Milk King creating Paras Brand

Ved Ram Nagar-From Milkman To Milk King creating Paras Brand
Prefer on

In 1933, Ved Ram Nagar embarked on a journey that would transform him from a humble milk vendor into a titan of the dairy industry. With a start of selling 60 litres of milk each day, his ambition and understanding of the dairy sector's potential led to the foundation of a business that now competes with giants like Mother Dairy and Amul. This venture, known today as Paras Milk, has evolved into one of the leading dairy companies in India, serving millions of households across Delhi-NCR and beyond.

Ved Ram Nagar's vision materialized in 1980 when he established his first firm. By 1984, he had inaugurated a unit dedicated to processing milk and dairy products, marking the inception of V.R.S. Foods. This initiative took a significant leap forward in 1987 with the establishment of a major milk plant in Sahibabad, Ghaziabad. This expansion not only increased the company's processing capacity but also cemented its reputation as a dependable dairy brand.

Further growth ensued with the opening of another substantial facility in Gulavathi in 1992 and a plant outside Delhi-NCR in Gwalior in 2004, expanding the company's reach across India. After Ved Ram Nagar's passing in 2005, his legacy was carried on by his sons, who rebranded the company as 'Vedram and Sons Private Limited’ in 2008. Under this new banner, the company fortified the Paras brand, venturing into various milk-related products.

Today, Paras Milk not only stands as a mammoth in the dairy industry but has also branched out into healthcare, real estate, education, and pharmaceuticals, diversifying its portfolio and establishing a broad business conglomerate.

Here’s What It Means Expanding Reach and Diversifying Interests Paras Milk's expansion beyond the dairy sector has not only created new revenue streams but also contributed significantly to societal wellbeing. The Chaudhary Ved Ram Charitable Trust, named in honor of the founder, plays an active role in education and health, showcasing the family's commitment to social service. Meanwhile, Surendra Singh Nagar, a member of the founding family, has extended the family's influence into politics, serving as a Rajya Sabha MP.

The network of Paras Milk spans across several states, including Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh, involving over 5,400 villages. This extensive network supports thousands of farmers engaged in dairy and animal husbandry, providing them not only with a reliable market for their milk but also financial aid to bolster their livelihoods.

Today's Milestones and Tomorrow's Vision Currently, Paras Milk processes and sells approximately 3.6 million litres of milk daily, maintaining a robust presence in Delhi-NCR and other major cities. The company's product line has expanded to include ghee, butter, cheese, curd, and flavoured milk, which have quickly become favorites among consumers. This growth reflects not only the company's commitment to quality and innovation but also its adaptability in a competitive market.

The journey of Ved Ram Nagar from selling 60 litres of milk daily to becoming a luminary in the dairy industry is a testament to the power of vision and perseverance. Paras Milk, from its modest beginnings to its current status as a dairy colossus, illustrates the remarkable evolution of a business that has not only excelled in its domain but has also made significant contributions to society and diversified into various sectors. The legacy of Ved Ram Nagar continues to inspire and guide the company's path forward, promising continued growth and innovation in the years to come.
