Savencia acquires Brazilian Dairy company Quatá Alimentos Deal

By DairyNews7x7•Published on January 06, 2026

French dairy major Savencia Fromage & Dairy has signed a purchase agreement to **acquire Quatá Alimentos, a well-established cheese and dairy products manufacturer in Brazil, in a strategic move to expand its footprint in Latin America’s largest dairy market. The transaction, whose financial terms were not disclosed, is pending approval by Brazil’s antitrust authority, CADE.

The acquisition will bring into Savencia’s portfolio iconic local brands such as Quatá and Glória, which have long been household names, alongside its existing Brazilian stable of brands including Polenghi, Campo Lindo, Polenguinho and Frescatino. This complements Savencia’s current offerings with a broader range of cheeses and dairy products that appeal to regional tastes and consumption patterns.

Quatá Alimentos, a family-owned company founded in 1990, sources high-quality milk from major dairy regions in Brazil — including São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro — and operates several production facilities across these states. Its established regional presence and deep cheese-making heritage strengthen Savencia’s local value chain and access to milk supplies in one of the world’s key emerging dairy markets.

Olivier Delaméa, CEO of Savencia, stated that the acquisition reinforces the group’s long-standing presence in Brazil, where it has operated for decades, and will help Savencia “complement its portfolio and strengthen its position in the Brazilian dairy market.” Quatá’s founders said the alliance honours the company’s history and supports its future development under the larger Savencia family.

The deal reflects a broader trend of consolidation in global dairy, where established Western dairy groups seek growth through strategic acquisitions in high-potential markets such as Brazil — a country with one of the highest milk consumption rates in Latin America and significant domestic demand for cheese and value-added dairy products.
