Russia exported dairy products worth $12.5 million to Belarus during the first quarter of 2026, according to data released by Agroexport, the export promotion center of the Russian Agriculture Ministry. Belarus emerged as the third-largest destination for Russian dairy exports during the period, following Kazakhstan, which imported more than $30 million worth of products, and Uzbekistan with around $14 million.
The main categories exported from Russia to Belarus included cheese and curd, fermented dairy products, as well as milk and cream, highlighting continued cross-border dairy trade growth within the Eurasian region.
At the same time, Russia is witnessing a sharp increase in domestic cheese inventories as production rises alongside growing imports from Belarus. In April 2026, cheese stocks in Russia were reported to be 21% higher year-on-year and 52% above the five-year average. Production growth has outpaced demand, while consumption trends remain mixed, with retail cheese sales continuing to expand even as the HoReCa segment shows signs of decline.
The developments underline the deep integration of the Russia-Belarus dairy trade corridor and reflect the evolving supply-demand dynamics across the regional dairy market, where both countries continue to play a major role in dairy production, processing, and exports within the CIS and Eurasian Economic Union.
