Reliance Enters Ice Cream Market With ₹10 Packs

Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries, has entered India’s competitive ice cream market with the launch of Bombay Creamery. Positioned as an “accessible premium” dairy ice cream brand, the range is made with authentic dairy ingredients and real dairy cream, with the company promising “Global Quality at Affordable Price.”

Bombay Creamery will be available in multiple formats, including cones, cups, tubs, bars and sticks, with prices starting at just ₹10. The brand is initially being rolled out across Western India, with RCPL planning a pan-India expansion subsequently.

The launch is backed by Reliance’s national distribution infrastructure, retail scale and consumer insights, signalling that the company sees ice cream as a long-term category rather than a limited product extension. T Krishnakumar, Director, RCPL, said the brand was built around the idea that dairy products should not require “shortcuts”, with the focus on real dairy cream and genuine taste at an affordable price.

The entry puts Reliance directly into a crowded market that already includes major players such as Amul, Vadilal, Mother Dairy, Kwality Wall’s and Arun, alongside global premium brands such as Magnum and Baskin-Robbins. Reliance’s combination of aggressive entry pricing and extensive distribution could intensify competition across both mass-market and premium segments.

The move also fits Reliance’s broader consumer-products strategy. The company has previously used competitive pricing and distribution scale to expand brands such as Campa, and the ₹10 starting price for Bombay Creamery could represent a similar attempt to rapidly build consumer penetration in another high-volume category.

Interestingly, the Ambani family’s presence in ice cream is not limited to RCPL. Vantara Creamery, a separate luxury-positioned venture associated with Anant Ambani’s Vantara initiative, launched in Mumbai in May 2026; however, it operates independently from RCPL’s Bombay Creamery FMCG business. For India’s dairy industry, Bombay Creamery adds a powerful new competitor at a time when ice cream is attracting investments across formats, price points and distribution channels. The bigger question is whether Reliance can combine ₹10 accessibility with real-dairy positioning—and scale that proposition nationwide without compromising margins.
