Distribution of milk powder to government schools in Rajasthan under the Pannadhay Bal Gopal Yojana has improved from 57% in August to 70% as of September 7, but 30% of the required quantity is still pending delivery, according to the state Education Department.
The scheme provides milk prepared from milk powder to students up to Class 8 as part of the school nutrition programme. In a letter dated September 15, Additional Chief Secretary for Education Rajesh Yadav asked the Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Gopalan Department to ensure that the remaining supplies reach schools and that distribution reaches 100%.
The department described the improvement from 57% delivery on August 17 to 70% by September 7 as appreciable, but said the remaining 30% required immediate, focused and time-bound action.
Deeg recorded zero distribution of milk powder to schools. Bharatpur, Alwar, Khairthal, Jaisalmer, Kotputli-Behror, Pratapgarh, Jhunjhunu, Bikaner, Pali and Jalore were among the districts where distribution remained below 50%.
Several districts, however, reported full distribution. Ajmer, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Rajsamand, Salumber, Tonk, Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu and Sirohi had achieved 100% distribution as of the latest status cited in the report.
The Education Department has directed the Animal Husbandry Department to ask the Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation Ltd. (RCDF) to complete the pending deliveries on priority. Where milk powder has already been dispatched but has not reached schools, immediate delivery has been ordered, while districts that have not yet received dispatches have been instructed to arrange shipment of the balance quantity.
The department has also called for daily district-wise monitoring, fixing responsibility for delays and taking corrective action wherever required. The development highlights the importance of supply-chain coordination between dairy cooperatives, government departments and schools in delivering milk-based nutrition programmes at scale.
