Rajasthan approves ₹1,000 crore fund to boost dairy infrastructure
Rajasthan Chief Minister has approved the creation of a ₹1,000 crore corpus fund to strengthen the state’s dairy infrastructure under the Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation (RCDF). The initiative aims to modernise milk production, expand processing capacities, and upgrade associated facilities across major districts of the state.
The current milk processing capacity of RCDF stands at around 5.2 million litres per day, which is targeted to be increased to approximately 7.5 million litres per day through this fund. New dairy plants will be established in Alwar, Udaipur, Banswara, Bharatpur, and Sawai Madhopur, while expansion of existing plants is planned in Sikar–Jhunjhunu, Sri Ganganagar–Hanumangarh, Jodhpur, and Kota. Alongside, the capacity of cattle-feed plants will be raised from 1,800 to 2,500 tonnes per day, and milk powder production from 165 to 225 tonnes per day.
The financial structure of the fund is designed to ensure sustainability, with 10% contribution from RCDF profits and another 10% from district milk unions. The corpus will be eligible for leveraging bank and institutional loans at concessional rates, creating a multiplier effect on infrastructure growth across Rajasthan’s dairy sector.
This announcement marks a significant step toward enhancing the productivity and resilience of the cooperative dairy network in Rajasthan, which plays a crucial role in supporting rural livelihoods. The expansion of processing and feed manufacturing capacity is expected to generate new employment opportunities and enable farmers to access modern milk handling and value-addition facilities.
For industry players, the move opens new possibilities in plant automation, membrane-based value-added processing, and testing and quality assurance services. With Rajasthan’s dairy sector set for large-scale infrastructure modernisation, the state could emerge as a key driver in India’s next phase of cooperative-led dairy growth.
