The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has announced a revision in milk prices across Odisha, with the new rates coming into effect from October 4, 2026.
Under the revised pricing, toned milk will increase from ₹54 to ₹58 per litre, while premium milk will rise from ₹58 to ₹60 per litre. The 500-ml pouches will be priced at ₹29 and ₹30, respectively.
The price of Gold milk has been fixed at ₹62 per litre, while Gold Plus milk will cost ₹66 per litre. Their 500-ml pouches will be available at ₹31 and ₹33, respectively.
The revised rates follow an increase in the milk procurement price paid to dairy farmers. OMFED raised its procurement price by ₹2 per litre from September 11, with the move attributed to rising dairy production and transportation costs, particularly higher expenditure on cattle feed and other inputs.
According to the Times of India, the September procurement-price increase was the second such revision in 2026, following an earlier ₹1-per-litre increase in May. OMFED currently procures around 7 lakh litres of milk per day from more than 3.2 lakh dairy farmers.
The revised prices are expected to affect businesses that use milk as an input, including tea and coffee outlets and manufacturers of dairy products such as paneer, curd, cheese and ghee, as higher raw-material costs move through the supply chain.
The federation is also revising promotional arrangements for channel partners while retaining provisions for replacing leaky or defective milk pouches.
The latest increase comes as OMFED is also introducing QR-code-based product verification. The system has already been introduced for ghee and is expected to be extended to paneer, curd and other dairy products, allowing consumers to access information such as production date, production location and recommended period of use.
