Nitish Kumar lays foundation for Mother Dairy plant in Munger
On October 4, 2025, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone for a Mother Dairy plant in Jamalpur, Munger. The new facility, spread across 15 acres and costing ₹250 crore, is expected to generate around 250 direct jobs. Collection of milk from the nearby villages will begin with local chilling units, initially processing 1 lakh litres per day, with plans to scale up to 2 lakh litres.
In his address, Kumar also announced several developmental schemes worth ₹12,000 crore for Munger and neighboring regions. He emphasized infrastructure projects like the Ganga Pathway, ring roads, and other initiatives aimed at boosting economic activity in the region.

The establishment of a Mother Dairy plant in Munger marks a significant push in dairy infrastructure investment in a state that is still under-penetrated in organized milk processing. Having local processing capacity reduces transit losses, improves freshness, and increases returns for farmers.
