Nestle to start milk procurement centre in Jammu: JKDFA

Nestle India will open its fresh milk procurement centre in Jammu by the end of this month. This was disclosed by office bearers of J&K Dairy Farming Association (JKDFA) while addressing a press conference, here today. They said that Amul, one of the largest milk processing company in India, was giving very low rates of milk to the dairy farmers, which compelled them to tie up with Nestle India.

“The agreement has been signed with Nestle India and by the end of this month, the Company will start procuring fresh milk from the dairy farmers in Jammu by setting up a procurement centre,” they said and appealed the dairy farmers of Jammu to sell the milk to Nestle also, which will give them good price of the milk.

The JKDFA office bearers also expressed concern over consistent increase in prices of feed and fodder of dairy animals and appealed the Government to reduce the rates of all types of fodder.

Stating that Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Parshottam Rupala, during a conference in Srinagar on October 11, had made commitment that Lumpy Skin Disease will be declared epidemic in J&K and the compensation will be provided to the dairy farmers affected with the Disease, JKDFA office bearers urged Atal Dulloo (Financial Commissioner, Animal & Sheep Husbandry Department, J&K) to clear the farmers what has been done in this connection.
