NCDFI, Banglar Dairy Explore eMarket Expansion

The National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India (NCDFI) is exploring opportunities to expand the use of its digital marketplace, NCDFI eMarket, in collaboration with Banglar Dairy Limited and the Paschim Banga Go-Sampad Bikash Sanstha (PBGSBS).

Dr. Srinivas Sajja, Managing Director of NCDFI, along with his team, met Dr. Gouri Shankar Koner, Managing Director of Banglar Dairy Limited and CEO of PBGSBS, in Kolkata to discuss the platform’s current utilisation and opportunities to extend its use for both purchasing and sales activities.

The discussions focused on strengthening digital transactions, improving operational efficiency and expanding the platform’s role in dairy-sector procurement and marketing. Dr. Koner appreciated NCDFI’s efforts in working with Banglar Dairy and PBGSBS.

NCDFI said it aims to strengthen the collaboration and expand the platform’s reach to support transparent, efficient and technology-enabled solutions for the dairy cooperative sector.

Launched on June 10, 2015, NCDFI eMarket is an online marketplace designed to facilitate bulk buying and selling across dairy and allied sectors. Its traded categories include dairy products, cattle-feed ingredients, edible oils, packaging materials, sugar, chemicals, scrap, transport services and warehousing.

The platform is intended to improve price discovery, reduce transaction costs and make procurement and sales more transparent and auditable. Its digital trading mechanisms can help participating cooperatives streamline transactions and access a wider network of buyers and sellers.

For dairy cooperatives, wider adoption of eMarket could improve the efficiency of purchasing essential inputs and marketing dairy commodities. It may also strengthen digital linkages between cooperative institutions and help them make more informed procurement decisions.

The discussions with Banglar Dairy reflect NCDFI’s broader effort to extend technology-enabled market solutions across the cooperative dairy sector. The outcome will depend on the extent of platform adoption and how effectively participating organisations integrate digital transactions into their regular operations.
