National Milk Day celebrated at Purabi Dairy

Purabi Dairy, a milk and dairy products manufacturing company in Northeast has sold nearly 1 lakh units of its falvoured drinks in just five months, S.K. Parida, Managing Director West Assam Milk Producers' Co-operative Union Ltd. (WAMUL) told Business North East (BNE). On November 26, National Milk Day, Purabi Dairy organized a free milk distribution campaign, providing free milk to hundreds of consumers while educating them about the benefits of milk, its purity, and the importance of consuming pasteurized milk. 

During the event, S.K. Parida mentioned that the introduction of flavored milk drinks have gained significant traction in the market. "In just five months since launch, we have sold nearly 1 lakh units of our flavored drinks, and we anticipate these becoming our highest-selling products," he said adding that the company is planning to expand its operations to the Barak Valley region.

The Managing Director of Purabi Dairy further highlighted the organization's journey and achievements. "On the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, we celebrate the man behind India's status as the largest milk producer in the world. When we started, Purabi Dairy sold only 3,000 to 4,000 liters of milk per day. Today, we handle 1.3 lakh liters of milk daily, covering 22 districts in Assam," he stated during the BNE interview.

Speaking of the company's financial achievements and ambitious plans for growth, he said, "We closed the financial year 2023-24 with a turnover of Rs. 69 crore, and this year, we are targeting a turnover of Rs. 350 crore. Currently, 33,000 farmers are associated with Purabi Dairy, and our long-term vision is to process 10 lakh liters of milk daily while bringing 1.75 lakh farmers into our fold."
