MP Can Become India’s Dairy Capital,’ CM Mohan Yadav
Prefer on

CM Mohan Yadav, on Sunday, emphasized that Madhya Pradesh has the potential to become the ‘Dairy Capital of India,’ while speaking at a  seminar on Dairy Technology organised at Ujjain’s Vikram University.

Yadav further announced that the academic degree course in Dairy Technology would now be offered at Vikram University, Ujjain, along with Jabalpur. He added that similar courses would be introduced in other universities as per the National Education Policy 2020.

The CM highlighted that India is one of the youngest nations globally, and as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, this youth power should be utilized for national growth.  Introducing Dairy Technology courses opens new opportunities for students to contribute to the dairy sector.

CM Yadav underscored that India is the largest milk producer across the globe, with Madhya Pradesh contributing 9% of the national production. This way MP ranks third in the country.

The state’s average milk production is 673 grams per day, compared to the national average of 471 grams. He stressed the need for integrated efforts to make Madhya Pradesh the top dairy-producing state in India.

Bonus to dairy farmers

To achieve this, the government will provide bonuses to dairy farmers based on milk production and ensure adequate food supplies for livestock. Additionally, 100,000 hectares of new irrigation coverage will be developed to support agriculture and livestock farming.

The seminar began with a Saraswati Vandana, and CM Yadav was welcomed with traditional Vedic chants, a shawl, and a memento by Ujjain Division Commissioner Sanjay Gupta and Vikram University Vice-Chancellor Arpan Bhardwaj. CM Yadav also unveiled Vikram University’s Activity Calendar during the event.

Other dignitaries present included Member of Parliament Balyogi Umesh Nath Maharaj, MLA Anil Jain Kalukheda, and various university staff and students. The event concluded with an acknowledgment of the benefits brought by major irrigation projects like the Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link and the Ken-Betwa Link to agriculture and livestock farming in the state.
