Mother Dairy Launches 30+ Summer Products, Targets Over 30% Growth in Key Categories
Mother Dairy has introduced more than 30 new products across its value-added dairy portfolio for the summer season, strengthening its focus on premiumisation, health-oriented offerings, convenience and regional consumer preferences.
The company is targeting growth of more than 30% across key categories this summer. The expanded portfolio includes nearly 20 ice cream offerings, low-calorie frozen desserts, high-protein dairy products, regional fresh dairy innovations and an expanded ultra-high-temperature (UHT) milk range.
The launches are being rolled out in phases across traditional retail and emerging distribution channels.
Ice Cream Portfolio Gets Nearly 20 New Offerings
Ice cream is a major focus of Mother Dairy's summer expansion, with approximately 20 new variants and formats introduced.
The portfolio includes two-in-one Matka and tub formats, a premium range under the 'Crafted' label, and new flavours such as Cream Cheese Pistachio Cone and Kulfi Cassata.
The company is also expanding its premium ice cream positioning through differentiated packaging and flavour combinations, targeting consumers seeking more variety and indulgent experiences.
'Go-Low' Targets Calorie-Conscious Consumers
Responding to demand for lighter indulgence options, Mother Dairy has introduced its 'Go-Low' low-calorie ice cream range.
The initial range includes three flavours:
- Choco Almond
- Shahi Mewa
- Kesar Pista Tilla Kulfi
The launch adds a calorie-conscious segment to the company's frozen dessert portfolio, allowing it to address consumers looking for alternatives to conventional ice cream products.
High-Protein Dairy Range Expands
Mother Dairy is also strengthening its functional dairy portfolio under the 'Pro' range with two products:
- Procurd: A high-protein curd variant.
- Propaneer: A high-protein paneer variant.
These products are positioned for health-conscious consumers and people with active lifestyles, including gym-goers.
The expansion reflects the growing importance of protein-led product differentiation in the dairy market, where manufacturers are increasingly looking beyond conventional milk and fresh dairy offerings.
Regional Flavours Drive Fresh Dairy Innovation
Localisation is another important pillar of the summer strategy.
Mother Dairy is introducing Jamun Yoghurt and Bhuna Jeera Raita, while expanding its Shrikhand portfolio with three variants for western Indian markets.
The company is also widening the availability of Meethi Dahi in key northern markets.
By developing products around regional tastes and consumption habits, the company aims to strengthen its relevance across different geographies rather than relying on a uniform national product portfolio.
UHT Milk Expansion Targets Convenience-Led Markets
Mother Dairy is extending its UHT milk portfolio, including Cow Milk and Standardised Milk in carton packaging, into markets such as Jammu and Kashmir.
UHT milk offers a longer shelf life before opening and can be distributed without refrigeration, making it relevant in markets where maintaining an uninterrupted cold chain can be challenging.
The expansion gives the company an opportunity to reach consumers in locations where conventional refrigerated distribution may be more difficult.
30% Growth Target Reflects Summer Demand Expectations
Mother Dairy Managing Director Jayatheertha Chary said product innovation remains central to the company's growth strategy and that the new offerings are designed to respond to evolving consumer preferences across age groups and consumption occasions.
The company expects rising temperatures to support demand across its key summer categories.
The target of more than 30% growth is a company expectation for the season, rather than a reported sales result.
What This Means for India's Dairy Industry
Mother Dairy's product strategy highlights four important directions for the Indian dairy market:
1. Premiumisation: Differentiated ice cream formats, premium flavours and packaging are helping brands move beyond conventional price-led competition.
2. Protein-led innovation: High-protein curd and paneer demonstrate how everyday dairy categories can be repositioned around specific nutritional needs.
3. Regional product development: Products such as Jamun Yoghurt, Bhuna Jeera Raita and Meethi Dahi show the commercial value of tailoring portfolios to local preferences.
4. Distribution beyond the cold chain: UHT milk offers an opportunity to expand market reach in regions where refrigerated logistics are challenging.
For dairy manufacturers, the broader lesson is that growth increasingly depends on combining product innovation with consumer segmentation and distribution capabilities.
Mother Dairy's summer strategy is not just about selling more ice cream. It is about capturing more value from dairy through premium formats, protein-led products, regional relevance and convenience.
