Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav highlighted that the western region of Madhya Pradesh excels in milk production, whereas the densely forested eastern region lags behind. Despite the tribal communities in the eastern districts being involved in animal husbandry and milk production for years, they are still struggling to make significant progress. This issue warrants both concern and investigation. Dr. Yadav emphasized that the National Dairy Development Board should play a crucial role in providing guidance and support to enhance milk production, improve livestock, and expand fodder areas, thereby elevating the economic status of local communities through dairy farming.

Sanchi Dugdha Sangh

During a review meeting at Mantralaya, Dr. Yadav assessed the current state of milk production, collection, and the activities of Sanchi Dugdha Sangh. The meeting included discussions on strategies to boost milk production and collection. Present were Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Shri Lakhan Patel, Chief Secretary Smt. Veera Rana, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, and other senior officials.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was informed by Dr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board, about the activities conducted by the Board at the all-India level.

Tripartite agreement

A tripartite agreement was signed between the Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board, Shri Meenesh Shah, and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying for consultation and cooperation with NDDB in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. Principal Secretary of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department, Shri Gulshan Bamra was also present.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav today discussed in detail with Dr. Meenesh Shah about changing the lives of farmers and animal herders through economic upliftment by taking various measures to increase milk production in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that with the support and guidance of the Board, important work will be done in this area.

Agreement: Key Features

  • Cooperative coverage will be expanded through the formation of dairy cooperative societies in Madhya Pradesh. Support will be sought to include Farmer Producer Organizations, Self Help Groups and Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) registered under the Cooperative Act for farmer training and increased cooperative dairy coverage.

  • Quality improvement measures will be implemented at various stages of milk collection, transportation, and processing.

  • Focus will be on optimal utilization of existing infrastructure, plant technology upgradation, and end-to-end digitalization.

  • Policy-based suggestions will be sought for marketing in other states of India and export abroad.

  • Marketing activities of milk and milk products in the market will also be strengthened.

  • Efforts will be made for posting and capacity building of human resources.

  • Best practices will be adopted in the selection process for dairy cooperative societies.

  • Efforts will be made to revive Gwalior and Jabalpur Dugdha Sangh. There is also a suggestion to establish a new Dugdha Sangh for Shahdol and Rewa divisions.

  • Coordination with the Government of India will be enhanced for financial assistance and other obligations for cooperative dairy sector development.

  • Inter-departmental coordination will also be increased.

  • In coordination with the state and central government, milk producers of dairy cooperative societies will be encouraged for activities like animal breed improvement and income diversification for which loans and subsidies will also be provided.
