Milky Mist Dairy Food Limited has expanded its value-added dairy portfolio with the launch of Milky Mist High Protein Lactose-Free Milk, available in a convenient 250 ml pack containing 25 grams of protein.
The product is aimed at consumers seeking convenient ways to increase their daily protein intake. The company is initially making it available through selected domestic trade channels, with distribution expected to expand progressively.
The launch strengthens Milky Mist’s focus on protein-oriented dairy products, building on its existing portfolio of high-protein paneer, Greek yoghurt and Skyr. According to the company, demand for these products has grown by approximately 50% year on year over the past two years.
The new milk is manufactured using ultrafiltration technology, a specialised filtration process used to develop high-protein dairy products. The company says this technology-led approach differentiates the product from formulations that add protein to an existing product.
Dr. K. Rathnam, Whole-time Director and Chief Executive Officer of Milky Mist Dairy Food Limited, said the launch reflects the company’s focus on innovation, expanding its value-added portfolio and responding to changing consumer preferences for nutrition and convenience.
The launch follows a strong first quarter for the company in FY2026–27. For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Milky Mist reported operating revenue of ₹973.45 crore, up 43.56% year on year, while net profit rose to ₹64.68 crore, an increase of approximately 889.81% compared with the corresponding quarter a year earlier.
The introduction of high-protein lactose-free milk highlights the growing role of nutrition-focused products in the dairy industry. For manufacturers, this segment offers opportunities to differentiate products through protein content, processing technology and convenience as consumers increasingly seek functional dairy options.
