Milky Mist Doubles Down on Value-Added Dairy

Milky Mist Dairy Food is planning ₹400–500 crore in capital expenditure over the next 24–30 months as it expands capacity, enters new markets and builds a pan-India presence—while keeping its focus firmly on dairy.

The company closed FY26 with ₹3,138 crore in revenue, up 34% year-on-year, and ₹127 crore in net profit, up 176%. CEO K Rathnam said the company is targeting ₹5,000 crore in revenue by FY28.

Protein and Premium Dairy Drive NPD

Milky Mist is seeing strong demand for value-added dairy products, particularly yogurt, Skyr and Greek yogurt. Its yogurt capacity has increased from around 20 tonnes per day in 2022 to 30–35 tonnes per day, but the company says demand remains ahead of supply, with demand growing at around 50% annually.

The company is also evaluating protein-based beverages as a potential new category, while continuing to focus on adjacencies within value-added dairy rather than diversifying beyond dairy.

North India Becomes the Next Growth Market

Around 70% of Milky Mist’s revenue currently comes from South India, with the remaining 30% coming from markets including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, NCR and the North-East. The company plans to expand further into Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and other northern markets as part of its pan-India strategy.

To support this expansion, Milky Mist has acquired land from MIDC for a manufacturing facility in Maharashtra and is exploring manufacturing options in northern India.

Value-Added Dairy Remains the Core Strategy

The company’s strategy centres on premiumisation, protein, health and nutrition trends within dairy. Milky Mist also maintains a premium pricing approach for products such as Skyr and Greek yogurt, supported by investments in cold-chain infrastructure, logistics and retail visi-coolers.

For India’s dairy industry, Milky Mist’s expansion highlights how value-added products, geographic expansion and investment in manufacturing capacity are becoming central to the next phase of organised dairy growth.
