The Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD), Government of India, will launch a new Livestock Insurance Portal in New Delhi on September 28, 2026, aimed at making livestock insurance services more accessible and technology-driven for farmers.
Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Panchayati Raj Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh will launch the portal.
The integrated digital platform will streamline key processes under the Livestock Insurance Scheme, including policy issuance, claim processing, monitoring and reporting for insured animals.
According to the Ministry, the portal is designed to improve transparency and efficiency in livestock insurance services while strengthening risk protection for livestock farmers. The system is also expected to facilitate better coordination among stakeholders and enable real-time monitoring and data-driven management of insurance programmes.
A major feature of the new platform is its multilingual accessibility. In addition to Hindi and English, the portal will be available in 11 regional languages, allowing livestock farmers to access insurance-related information and services in languages familiar to them.
For dairy farmers and other livestock owners, insurance can provide financial protection against risks associated with the loss of insured animals. The digitalisation of policy and claim-related processes is intended to simplify access to these services and strengthen institutional delivery.
The launch is part of the government's broader effort to use digital platforms to improve livestock-sector services and bring technology-enabled risk protection closer to rural communities.
The effectiveness of the portal will ultimately depend on its adoption by farmers, coordination among implementing agencies and insurers, and efficient processing of insurance claims across different regions.
