The Jharkhand State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Ltd (JMF). Which came into existence in the year 2013, is currently being managed by NDDB.  JMF is manufacturing and marketing milk and milk products like market milk (Shakti Special, Standardized Milk, Toned Milk, Cow Milk and Slim Milk), Dahi, Misti Doi, Paneer, Lassi, Masala Chaach, Peda, Gulab Jamun, Rabri, Kheer Mix, Medha Special, Sterilized Flavoured Milk etc. These products are being marketed under the brand “Medha”.

JMF added a new product “Medha Ragi Laddoo” in the portfolio on 6th June 2025.

“Medha Ragi Laddoo” was launched by Shri Hemant Soren, Honourable CM of Jharkhand in presence of Dr. Meenesh C Shah, Chairman, NDDB and other dignitaries during Foundation Stone laying Ceremony of Medha Milk Powder Plant at Ranchi on 6/6/2025.

As we all know, Ragi; popularly known as finger millet, is known for its nutritional value and health benefits and is abundantly grown in Jharkhand.

Nutritional Value and Health Benefits of Ragi Millet:

  • High in Calcium: Ragi is a good source of calcium, even exceeding milk in calcium content.
  • Good Source of Iron: It helps prevent iron deficiency anaemia.
  • Rich in Fibre: Ragi's high fibre content aids digestion and promotes satiety.
  • Low Glycaemic Index: It's a good option for managing blood sugar levels.
  • Antioxidants: Ragi contains antioxidants that protect against free radical damage.
  • Gluten-Free: Safe for individuals with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.
Detailed Health Benefits of Jaggery:
  • Immunity Booster:
Jaggery's antioxidants and minerals, such as selenium and magnesium, contribute to a strong immune system, helping the body fight off infections and diseases.
  • Digestive Support:
Jaggery aids digestion by promoting better nutrient absorption and preventing constipation, which is helpful for overall health.
  • Detoxification:
Jaggery helps cleanse the liver by flushing out toxins and purifying the blood, contributing to overall well-being.
  • Iron and Folate Source:
Jaggery's iron content helps increase haemoglobin levels, reducing the risk of anaemia and improving oxygen transport to cells.
  • Blood Pressure Regulation:
The potassium and sodium in jaggery help maintain acid-base balance in the body, contributing to healthy blood pressure levels.
  • Respiratory Health:
Jaggery's anti-inflammatory properties can help reduce symptoms of asthma and bronchitis.
  • Skin Health:
Jaggery's antioxidant properties contribute to healthy skin, protecting it from damage.

The process

Ragi flour is initially dry roasted on low heat so as to ensure that all the nutritional value of Ragi is retained. Then Medha Pure Ghee is gently added in the roasted ragi flour and roasting is further continued for a little while till a pleasant and soothing flavour of pure ghee surrounds the air.

To give additional top up of health concern, technical experts of JMF decided to use Jaggery in place of sugar. Use of jaggery has given a kick to the taste buds of the consumers.

Finally, crushed and roasted nuts like peanuts and sesame seeds are added to the mix so as to impart a crunchy mouthfeel.

A number of trials were conducted by technical experts of production and quality assurance department of JMF so as to formulate and conceptualize the raw material, recipe and packaging of this awesome and nutritive product.

After shaping, the Laddoos’ are being hygienically packed in MAP packaging so that the product quality is fresh throughout the shelf life and consumers can enjoy the mouth-watering sweet along with all the nutritional value.

To make it pocket friendly, it was decided to keep the pack size as 200 gm.

The product is being liked by the consumers as it carries freshness, purity, hygiene and above all high nutrition value.
