Telangana food-safety authorities have suspended the FSSAI licences of two dairy units in Hyderabad and adjoining areas following inspections that found multiple hygiene and food-safety violations.
The action was taken by the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) during a special enforcement drive covering dairy establishments in Hyderabad’s core urban region and adjoining districts. Officials inspected 20 dairy establishments and collected 18 samples from various units on suspicion of possible adulteration.
The FSSAI licence of Sapthagiri Foods at Karmanghat was suspended after officials reported uneven flooring with moss growth, inadequate drainage, a heavy presence of houseflies, insufficient pest-control measures and garbage accumulation. Officials also found that records relating to water and milk testing were unavailable and reported inadequate hygiene practices among food handlers.
The licence of All Rich Dairy Private Limited at Pasumamula village in Ranga Reddy district was also suspended. Inspectors reported housefly and cockroach infestation, slippery floors with water stagnation, inadequate lighting, pan-masala spitting inside the cold room and flaking of walls and ceilings. Personnel-hygiene facilities were also found to be inadequate.
Separately, Venkata Shiva Milk Point in Hayathnagar was closed after officials found that it was operating without an FSSAI licence and under unhygienic conditions. The authorities initiated enforcement action against the establishment.
The inspection drive also identified other deficiencies at some establishments, including mould growth, rusty equipment and pipes, poor drainage, and the absence of required water-testing, pest-control and food-handler health records. TG SAFE said improvement notices would be issued to 10 units, while show-cause notices would be issued to three others.
The enforcement action comes as Telangana food-safety authorities intensify inspections of dairy facilities and distributor points. The inspections are aimed at checking licensing compliance, sanitation, food handling practices and adherence to prescribed food-safety requirements.
For dairy processors and milk businesses, the findings underline the importance of maintaining documented water and milk testing, pest-control programmes, food-handler hygiene, drainage, equipment maintenance and valid FSSAI licensing alongside production controls.
Further regulatory action may depend on the inspection findings and, where applicable, the results of samples collected during the drive.
