Goa Dairy will maintain its existing retail milk prices despite Karnataka's ₹8-per-litre increase in Nandini milk prices effective November 1, 2026, providing price stability for consumers in Goa.
The cooperative's decision is supported by its existing farmer procurement and financial assistance arrangements, which allow it to maintain producer payments without immediately increasing consumer prices.
Goa Dairy Maintains Farmer Payments
Goa Dairy's Committee of Administrators chairperson, Parag Nagarsekar, said the cooperative has no immediate plans to revise retail milk prices.
Since April 2026, Goa Dairy has been paying cow milk producers ₹56 per litre for milk containing 4% fat and 8.5% SNF. This includes ₹40 in base procurement payments and ₹16 in support.
For buffalo milk containing 6% fat and 9% SNF, producers receive ₹78.40 per litre, including ₹56 in base payments and ₹22.40 in support.
Karnataka Raises Nandini Milk Prices
Karnataka has increased Nandini milk prices by ₹8 per litre from November 1. Of the increase, ₹7 is allocated to dairy farmers and ₹1 to milk unions to help cover operational expenses.
The revision raises basic toned milk prices from ₹46 to ₹54 per litre.
Nandini reportedly supplies approximately 25,000 litres of milk daily to Goa, making Karnataka's price revision relevant to the state's dairy market.
Two Cooperative Approaches to Price Stability
Goa Dairy's decision contrasts with Karnataka's strategy of increasing consumer prices to improve farmer returns and support cooperative operations.
The developments highlight how procurement payments, government support mechanisms and cooperative financial structures influence retail milk pricing across Indian states.
