Dairy project to empower 500 women in Haryana

The KP Singh Foundation (KPSF), in collaboration with the ISAP India Foundation, has launched the “Empowering Women through Dairy Entrepreneurship” project at Jaat Bhawan in Karnal, aiming to support 500 rural women across Karnal and Kurukshetra districts in Haryana.
The initiative focuses on equipping women with knowledge, technical skills, and entrepreneurial support to transform traditional dairy practices into sustainable and profitable enterprises. The launch event saw participation from key stakeholders including the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Centre of Excellence for Dairy Skills in India (CEDSI), Escorts Kubota Limited, Farmer Producer Organisations, and beneficiary groups.
ISAP India Foundation COO Gaurav Vats emphasized the critical role of women in dairy and highlighted the need for skill development, scientific dairy practices, and stronger market linkages to enhance incomes. During technical sessions, livestock expert Dr. Ramesh Rawal underscored that feed accounts for nearly 60% of milk production costs while sharing insights on high-productivity animal selection, genetic improvement, and nutrition.
Experts from CEDSI and NDRI, including Ms. Aarzoo and Dr. Raman Malik, further guided participants on scientific dairy management, feed preparation, and value addition to build viable dairy enterprises.
