Dairy Milk India's new ad on North-South language

By DairyNews7x7•Published on March 14, 2025

Dairy Milk India's new ad on North-South language
Prefer on

Cadbury Dairy Milk India has launched its new leg of advertisement campaigns and one of the ad videos has particularly delighted the internet. The reason? The video addressed the North-South language divide with a simple yet thoughtful message.

The ad follows a group of seemingly Hindi-speaking women chatting when a new neighbour, a woman from Chennai, joins them. With limited knowledge of Hindi, she initially struggles to keep up with the conversation and seemingly feels out of place.

However, one of the women, noticing her discomfort, switches to English in her own way to make her feel included. The new neighbour starts feeling at ease as the conversation flows.

The ad attempted to depict that a little kindness is all it takes to bridge gaps - language need not be a barrier to connection.

Online, the ad has earned praise for its refreshing take on inclusivity. "I don't get the North-South language politics. But I do get great advertising. Dairy Milk India always hits the right notes," a user said on X.

Another user added, "My God! What a beautiful ad by Daily Milk India. Marketing team deserves a raise."

A section of the internet found the message particularly relevant. "How beautifully Daily Milk showed a mirror to all of us. We communicate 'little little... Thoda Thoda, and still be 'very sweet' and accepting," one of the users said.

This ad comes amid the ongoing rift between the Centre and Tamil Nadu. The DMK government has accused the Centre of trying to impose Hindi in the state, a charge rejected repeatedly by central ministers. In fact, the language divide has been at the centre of Dravidian politics in Tamil Nadu since the 1960s.

The conversation around the ad has been overwhelmingly positive, with social media users praising how it managed to address a social issue without being preachy. Sometimes, a small gesture like switching languages can go a long way in making someone feel at home.
